Bat Types: fruit insect eating flying mammals night flyers

There are two major groups of bats. Fruit bats, Megaochiroptera, and insect eating bats, Microchiroptera; they can be found throughout the world this world. Among these, the blood drinking Vampire Bat feeds exclusively on the blood of living animals, making them the only true parasite among mammals. Approximately 925 different species of bats have been identified.

They are classified in the phylum Chordata , subphylum Vertebrata, class Mammalia, order Chiroptera.
